Crop Harvesting Crop Preservation

Abstract:
Large quantities of crop fodder are stored and preserved in horizontal silos. Often the ensilaged crops are not sufficient compressed during storing, because there is a lack of compression performance. Investigations with snow groomer "Pistenbully" or vibrating compression tools went promising. Prospective, the driver of the compression vehicle should receive the recent density of the ensilaged crops by means of a radiometric density measuring system. A density test bench for round bales on the basis of penetrometer forces was developed. In combination with a moisture sensor, density and moisture profiles of round bales can be determined. Several investigations attended to the silage quality and the avoidance of losses.
