Agricultural Tractor Development
Abstract:
The German tractor production value increased in 2013 to 4.1 bn €, decreased however in 2014 to 3.5 bn €. Developments of new tractors have been strongly driven by the challenging emission control step EU IV resp. U.S. Tier 4 final. The anyway increased technical efforts for the engines (mainly by SCR) resulted in again slightly reduced practical fuel consumptions (DLG Powermix). Automatic power split CVTs are now available for all power ranges. Tractor-implement management (TIM) based on ISO 11783 gains further terrain. The high investment costs for the main tractor components force the larger manufacturers to develop modular systems and global co-operations. Electrical components show a strong trend of further improvements - introductions for tractor-implement systems remained limited.
