Livestock Engineering Machinery and Techniques in Poultry Husbandry

Abstract:
Current topics in the poultry sector are measures to improve animal welfare, including alter-natives to the killing of male day-old chicks (in ovo gender determination), the beak-treatment and for the improvement of housing systems with a focus on animal health, stable technology and hygiene. In addition to the statutory amendments of animal welfare legislation the pro-motion of animal husbandry procedures and the introduction of quality labels for most animal-friendly produced products should be particularly encouraged.
