Crop Harvesting
Mowing and Treatment of Hay
Abstract:
The agricultural situation on forage farms in the summer of 2018 was strongly affected by the continuing drought. In economic terms, this was accompanied by higher feed costs and a falling milk price. The green forage industry did not follow the milk price directly and reported good market developments. Technical innovations were increasingly introduced in the front mower segment. A Dutch agricultural contractor implemented a process for the additional cutting of green fodder before baling. At the Conference LAND.TECHNIK and at the 10th Colloquium Mobile Hydraulics two contributions were made on the electrification of mowers and mower conditioners. Furthermore, there was a contribution from the scientific community on the recognition of mowers for the coupling process on the tractor as well as a study on the measurement of shearing and cutting energies on buxus stem.
