Agricultural Tractor Development
Abstract:
In 2018, sales of German tractor manufacturers increased despite a weak home market to 3.99 B € (2017: 3.66 B €). The German registrations dropped considerably, in particular due to overacted registrations end of 2017 because of new legislations. Several companies presented study objects or prototypes with electric ground drive components. John Deere celebrated "100 Years of John Deere Tractors". There were not many new tractors presented in 2018 despite EU emission stage V, which is in power from Jan. 1, 2019. Manufacturers are probably looking for transition regulations. Modular tractor design is even a trend for companies with several brands and high numbers of variants, demonstrated in a table for the low hp tractors of SDF. In order to be compliant with the new EU regulation 2015/68 for brakes, the tractor makers favour pneumatic trailer brake systems similar to truck brake technologies. Automation of the tractor-implement system remains important.
