History 40 years of the “living” Landtechnik-Museum Braunschweig Gut Steinhof

Abstract:

The “Foerderkreis Gut Steinhof e.V.” was founded in 1984 as a result of the renovation of a manor house that was under acute threat of demolition. Committed to preserving the historic farm buildings, the association was able to lease the buildings from the owner, renovate them and fill them with a wide-ranging exhibition on the mechanization of agriculture. From the very beginning, an essential part of the museum concept is not only the static display of the exhibits, but also the use of the equipment in demonstrations. For the museum, which is run entirely by volunteers, this has proven to be an important key to attracting young talent, so that we can speak of a “living museum”.
