Tractors
Tractor Engines and Transmissions
Abstract:
After the widespread introduction of tractors in EU stage V configuration, there is currently a consolidation phase for diesel engines. However, engine manufacturers are working intensively on platforms for alternative fuels such as methane, HVO or hydrogen. The New Holland T6.180 tractor with a gas engine and CNG tanks is now in practical use and there are independent test results available. In the case of electrically power split CVTs, John Deere introduced its new transmission in the 8R series, and ZF showed a first prototype version for this development direction (transmission map). Kessler developed its own power split CVT for large mobile machines, which was first used in the Holmer Terra Variant (transmission map). Intensive research is being conducted into the electrification of tractor drivelines, but there are still hardly any series tractors with purely electric traction drives.
