General Development The journey to the harmonization of the provisions on the lighting and marking of agricultural vehicles

Abstract:

Over decades, a body of regulations on the installation of lighting and light signaling equipment has developed, initially within the framework of the respective national regulations. In the 1970s, a start was made on harmonizing the regulations in the area of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). An EN standard is now to be used to try to standardize the lighting and identification of agriculture attachments. However, this requires the willingness of each individual European country to apply this standard. Technically, the preconditions for harmonized requirements for the lighting and identification of mobile machinery have also been created by the development of UNECE R 86.
