Bio- and Environmental Engineering Pressure to act on ammonia reduction and mitigation options in cattle farming

Abstract:

The national ammonia emissions should be reduced by 29 % up to the year 2030 oriented on the reference year 2005. Previous projections show that the target emission ceiling of 444 kt/a in 2030 will be significantly exceeded by 126 kt/a. Due to its high ammonia emission contribution mitigation measures have to be implemented in cattle farming to a considerable extent. This article describes options and potentials of ammonia mitigation measures and its stage of development as well.
