Crop Harvesting
Mowing and Treatment of Hay
Abstract:
After increased sales figures in previous years, the manufacturers recorded a slight decline in sales for the 2018/2019 season. This will be the result of the difficult economic situation of many farms due to the drought year 2018 and the declining development of the milk price. In addition, there is not only a great deal of dissatisfaction, but also uncertainty regarding legislative requirements. The manufacturers presented their new products of forage technology at the Agritechnica 2019 in Hannover, such as self-propelled rake and a folding mowing bar for front mowers. Two research projects at the Institute of Mobile Machines and Commercial Vehicles of the Technische Universität Braunschweig dealt with the subject of stalk mowing. These focus on the objectives of intelligent straw management and electric drive of cutter bars. The College of Engineering of the China Agricultural University presented three papers on mowing and mower-conditioning technology at the ASABE conference in Boston.
