Machinery and Techniques in Poultry Husbandry
Abstract:
Animal welfare in poultry farming is still in the focus of public attention. Major issue of this were and remain measures to improve animal welfare including the development of an alternative to beak-treatment in laying hens and turkeys, the avoidance of killing male chicks of laying lines and the improvement of animal-friendly housing systems. In recent years mobile housing systems are becoming increasingly important not only in the ecological poultry sector, but also under conventional housing conditions. In this context mobile housing systems which are available on the German market are presented in this article.
