History of Agricultural Engineering Historical Development of Agricultural Engineering

Abstract:
Besides the retrospective tasks, the honorary work of the Technical Committee “Historical Development“ of the Max Eyth Society is to facilitate access to treasures of historical agricultural engineering. In the current digital age digitisation is essential. However, digitisation can be put into perspective by the fact that the viewers’ fascination for old photographs and bibliophilic editions continues: Digitisation is not the ultimate solution, but without digitisation, it is nothing. First actions have been taken to advertise and promote collections of historical agricultural engineering and therefore to allow for online access to the digital database of collections’ exhibits. This recently started process is explained by providing three examples without concealing problems due to technical, organisational and copyright challenges.
