General Development DLG-Agrifuture Insights: Focus on efficiency and adapted management

The assessment of the current business situation in 2022 is strongly influenced by the war in Ukraine, as well as the demanded greening of agriculture by politicians. There is still a high investment potential in organic crop production and dairy farming. Pig farming is under enormous economic pressure and needs planning security for the future. In arable farming, the focus on efficient and targeted use of inputs will remain important due to rising input and energy prices and increasing restrictions on crop protection and fertilization. In addition, environmental and climate protection measures are increasingly being applied at the farms. Besides the resulting increase in efficiency, the sustainability issue is also incorporated into the strategy. In this way, the changed cultivation conditions due to climate change are also considered.
