Crop Harvesting
Crop Preservation
Abstract:
Forage is important for the ruminant-based diet of dairy cows. On the basis of experiences and practical measurements must be noted that more than 50 % of the silages do not meet the quality requirements.
To distribute the delivered forage in horizontal silos special green forage forks and maize pushing blades have been further developed. To increase the compaction performance additional weights can be attached to the compacting vehicle. An increase in compression efficiency can be expected from a newly developed compaction roller with vibratory drive. A multivariate analysis was done in order to explain the complex interaction of the different material and process parameters off the ensiling process.
