Crop Harvesting Crop Preservation

Abstract:

Forage is an important basic feed for horses and ruminants. Research papers show that hay should be pressed in bales at 30 % moisture content in order to avoid crumbling losses. Afterwards, these bales are dried to achieve a stable storage moisture. For estimating the necessary wilting time, a prediction model is under development. Intermediate fodder crops are useful to produce additional forage. The ensiling should be done with silage additives. Silage bulks should not be opened shortly after ensiling.

For agricultural purposes, several manufacturers offer modified wheel loaders for the storage of silage, especially wilted grass. To achieve a better compaction performance, a silage compacter with vibrating rollers was developed.
