Automation and Robotic Systems
Abstract:
The increasing availability and use of key technological components for digital transformation has led to momentum in the development and application of field robots in 2022. This relates in particular to sensor systems, data interpretation (esp. artificial intelligence) and communication, and digital twins. The transition from field robots to field robotics, i.e. system integration into the farm, is in focus with regard to the sustainable benefits and robustness of the systems. In the complex adaptive integration of field robotics into practice, other areas are of central importance in addition to the interaction of crop production/livestock, technology and business management, e.g. occupational science, legal and social aspects or further education ("new interdisciplinarity"). The "Agro-Safety" research project is used to illustrate the interplay between the topics of autonomy, sensor technology and functional safety.
