A brief insight into the plant protection application technology of commercial horticulture
Abstract:
The application-related plant protection in commercial horticulture, which corresponds to the good professional practice, is characterized by a great technical diversity. Due to the many different crops (fruit, vegetables, ornamental plants, tree nurseries and forest trees) and the most varied forms of cultivation (in-vitro, climate chamber, greenhouse (soilless, earthbound), open field), a comparatively high number of different application techniques are used. In particular, the choice of the appropriate plant protection technology, but also other technical approaches from the agricultural sector, show a high potential for reducing the use of plant protection products in commercial horticulture. The degree of mechanization increases with the specialization of businesses and the expected yield per unit area.
